National Pumpkin Day - Seasonal Smoothie Recipe

October is coming to an end, but never fear, pumpkin is here to stay! (For one more month at least)

Pumpkin is an amazing superfood that serves up a healthy dose of fiber to keep you fuller, longer. It also helps balance blood pressure and improve cardiac health. It also offers vitamin A for healthy vision and beta-carotene to help prevent cancer and promote healthy cell turnover.

Pumpkin pie isn’t the only way to enjoy this fall favorite. You can use pumpkin in your favorite savory stir fries or even cubed, roasted, and served with fresh herbs as a side dish. One of our favorite ways to enjoy it is in a sweet and filing breakfast smoothie! Stock up on pumpkin puree and make this seasonal favorite all year long!

Pumpkin Spice Protein Smoothie


½ banana

½ cup milk (organic whole milk or your favorite dairy free milk substitute)

½ cup pumpkin puree (make sure it’s just pumpkin – not pumpkin pie filling!)

¼ tsp pumpkin pie spice

1 serving vanilla protein powder

A few drops of almond extract

1 cinnamon graham cracker (optional)


Blend all ingredients until smooth – top with crushed graham crackers to serve. Enjoy!
