Happy Lazy Day!

Happy Lazy Day, Warriors! That’s right – we are celebrating our "laziness" today and embracing pajama pants, Netflix binges, and messy buns, well for a moment at least! We all know that some of us are not capable of such a thing, but a girl can dream, can't she? Since you can’t be lazy forever, let’s go over a few ways to naturally boost your energy levels and mood!

·         Fuel Up – Picking the right foods can drastically increase your energy levels. Be smart about your meals and snacks by starting your day with protein, complex carbohydrates, and fresh fruit to jump-start your day. The protein and complex carbs will help sustain your energy levels until your next meal or snack while the natural sugars in the fruit will give you an instant pick-me-up.

·         Get moving – Exercise may tire you out, but a consistent and well-timed workout routine will keep you moving long after you leave the gym. Aim for an A.M. workout to give you all day energy and reduce the risk of interfering with your natural sleep cycles. Workouts later in the day can make it difficult to unwind and get your much-needed shut eye. If you need that extra motivation and accountability piece, start going to morning classes and meet some workout buddies.  

·         Sleep! – This sounds like a no brainer, but the science doesn’t lie. Aim for 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night to help your body recover and be at its peak for the day ahead. Even if you can't reach that much, try to add on more to what you already have. If sleep can't happen for you for that long, try closing your eyes and meditating. Any opportunity to relax and calm the mind will help your body recover that much faster. 

·         Energizing Arm Candy – Try stacking quartz and lava for a natural, and fashionable, energy boost! Other great energizers are onyx, goldstone, and hematite.

·         Aromatherapy – Essential oils have plenty of amazing uses. Add an energy boost to that list! Citrus oils such as lemon, sweet orange, and grapefruit are great energy boosters. You can blend these with peppermint, lemongrass, or bergamot to layer the energizing effects.

So for today, enjoy your lazy day if you're having one, and keep these tips handy for tomorrow when it’s time to get back to the grind!
